The San Antonio Spurs advance to the second round of the Western Conference as they complete the sweep of the Utah Jazz with a Game 4 victory at the EnergySolutions Arena 87-81. The Jazz tried to come back from a 21 point deficit and got it to within 4, but the Spurs defense proved their worth and stopped the Jazz from completing the comeback. The Spurs will face the winner between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Los Angeles Clippers with the Clippers leading the series 3-1.
Manu Ginobili off the bench led the Spurs with 17 points and 4 rebounds. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Gary Neal each scored 11 points. Duncan added 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. Parker added 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Tiago Splitter added 10 points and 3 steals. Stephen Jackson scored 8.
Al Jefferson led the Jazz with a double-double 26 points and 10 rebounds with 2 steals. Devin Harris added 19 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists. Derrick Favors also finished with a double-double 16 points and 10 rebounds with 2 steals and 2 blocks. Paul Millsap also came up with a double-double 10 points and 19 rebounds with 2 blocks.
In Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Clippers win in overtime to take a commanding 3-1 lead in their first round series against the Memphis Grizzlies at Staples Center 101-97. Game 5 will be back in Memphis on May 10 as the Grizzlies will look to keep their season alive at home. Blake Griffin led the Clippers with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists before fouling out in overtime. Chris Paul added 27 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Caron Butler scored 14. Mo Williams added 9 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists off the bench. Mike Conley led the Grizzlies with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Rudy Gay added 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Zach Randolph added 12 points and 9 rebounds. Marreese Speights added 9 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.
